The “Associazione Amici dell’Istituto Luigi Sturzo” (Friends of Istituto Luigi Sturzo) was founded on 11 July 2000 to bring together those who have helped, or wish to help, raise awareness of Luigi Sturzo’s work in the moral, political and sociological sphere.
The association is headquartered at Palazzo Baldassini in Rome, which is the home of Istituto Luigi Sturzo.
Legally recognised (under art.10 of the Italian legislative decree n. 460, 4 December 1997) as a non-profit organisation of social utility (onlus), the association was created with the purpose of promoting and enhancing the wealth of artistic, library and archive materials collected and stored at Palazzo Baldassini. It therefore addresses those who wish to contribute, in a financial or cultural sense, to the preservation, sorting and dissemination of the materials kept in the Historical Archive and the Library specialising in sociology and contemporary history, and to the enhancement of the 16th Century building designed by architect Antonio da Sangallo the Younger and decorated by artists of the Raphaelite school.
