Library

Specialising in social sciences and modern and contemporary history, with particular reference to local history, the history of political parties, the history of political and social thinking, and up to date with the most recent Italian and foreign publications, the Library contains more than 130,000 volumes. Its catalogue can be consulted via SBN (Servizio Bibliotecario Nazionale) – of which the Library has been member since 1990.

A number of historical archives donated by private individuals form an integral part of the Library collections.

The Library has a newspaper section (Emeroteca), including approximately 600 current and past journals, primarily relating to sociology, but also history and politics.

In order to commemorate Gabriele De Rosa, the Istituto Luigi Sturzo decided to name the Library in his memory, after acquiring the library that De Rosa had collected and preserved pertaining to his scientific activity, following his express instructions.
